Shining light on Pilates truths, honoring Joseph Pilates,

and supporting you in your Pilates journey.

      Your Home, Your Studio

It’s easy to think that you need the perfect space, the right time, or all the equipment to do Pilates “properly.” But in reality, if you have room to lie down, you already have a Pilates studio.:)

You don’t need mirrors, apparatus, or a full hour carved out of your day. You just need you—your breath, your body, and a little curiosity. Practicing the method requires concentration, precision, centering, breath and movements flowing from one to the next in specific order. The sequence of exercises is purposeful. Each movement prepares you for the next, creating a flow that’s both restorative and energizing.

Pilates was “born” on the mat. That’s where it all began. That’s where Joseph Pilates created it.

So, if you haven't already, invite Pilates into your home this coming week:

Create a 10x3 practice:

If you are really fighting the RESISTANCE ( yes, it is a real feeling) every time you think that you SHOULD do some Pilates at home, in order to overcome it, try this: Set your timer for 10 minutes and start with the Hundred. Next do Roll-up, Single Leg Circles. Check the timer. If you have any time left continue with the exercises that are next in the order. But when your timer goes off, stop. Repeat this routine 2 more times within a week. After the 3rd session check your feelings:)

Is the RESISTANCE still there or did it get replaced by desire to do more? If the answer is YES, don’t be hard on yourself, simply  repeat the same routine next week.

If your answer is NO, do more:)

Here are some resources from me:

1. list of Mat exercises to download and follow along: Mat Intermediate level

2. video tutorials

Here is the Intro to Mat tutorial.

Start with this one.

Next, move on to Intro to Mat flow. This is where you practice to be efficient in your movements, by “flowing” from one exercise to the next.

Finally, practice the Intermediate Mat. Perform each exercise with precision, and keep adding more.

What you are building is not  just strength—it is a relationship with your body. You are developing and sharpening the skills of body awarness. And the process happens when you are present, in the moment, in the movement, when you move your body with the guidance of your mind.

And all you need is a small space, a mat and you. Pilates will meet you exactly where you are.

Let me know how it is going. I’d love to hear what you are discovering. Just hit Reply above.

Happy Pilates :)
