Even though you may already be practicing Pilates regularly, My Dear Pilates Enthusiast, I believe this is the perfect moment to remind you of the importance of periodically reevaluating and rethinking your why and how.
For life-changing, long-lasting benefits, of course.
Do you remember your first lesson? Lots of new information, unfamiliar movements, and counterintuitive breathing, but in the end a feeling of a physical and mental awakening.:) It was that feeling that left you curious and eager to explore Pilates further.
Your first lesson was all about discovering Pilates.
Learning, Understanding, Practicing
During that session and subsequent ones, you were introduced to the fundamental concepts and principles of the method: how to stabilize joints, how to safely move them, and of course the one you might have found the most challenging: how to breathe while moving.:)
These are the building blocks that you get to practice whether in a studio or at home. Each movement you perform is, or should be, a deeper exploration of those initial lessons.
The takeaway? No matter how advanced you become, the fundamentals that you learned when you first started practicing Pilates remain at the heart of your practice. Revisiting them and rethinking your understanding of them will only keep improving the quality of your life that practicing Pilates offers you.
So, take a moment to reflect on your journey. Share these thoughts with someone who might be ready to start theirs. Most importantly, keep coming back to the basicsābecause thatās where the magic begins.
