Who I Am
Joanna TelackaÂ
Pilates is my way of life — and I want to share how it can become yours too!
I’ve been teaching Joseph Pilates’ traditional method of corrective movement — Classical Pilates — for over 25 years at my studio, Harmonious Pilates, in Great Neck, NY.
I’m a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) and a third-generation instructor, having studied at The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO. I trained under Amy Taylor Alpers, Rachel Taylor Segel, and Debora Kolwey, who were themselves taught by Romana Kryzanowska, one of Joseph Pilates’ original students.
I’ve taught thousands of hours of Classical Pilates and mentored future teachers in mastering the art of teaching the method one-on-one. Over the years, I’ve watched even seasoned teachers experience breakthroughs when they return to the fundamentals. There’s always more to discover.
Alongside teaching, I maintain my own daily practice, which continues to deepen my body awareness and understanding of movement.
Through consistent practice, Pilates has transformed both my body and mind — making me physically stronger, mentally sharper, and more grounded in everyday life. It supports everything I love to do — skiing, swimming, cycling, and running — and has carried me through five Ironman competitions and two marathons.
Pilates has shaped who I am. It’s more than exercise — it’s a way of life.
And I hope it becomes yours too.
