Shining light on Pilates truths, honoring Joseph Pilates,
and supporting you in your Pilates journey.
Doing 10 Minutes of Pilates Consistently Will Create Lasting Results
It may even leave you wanting more!
You already know that doing Pilates exercises is good for you and that it lays the foundation for a healthier, happier life.
Now you need to start practicing!
Let's first begin by setting up a reasonable schedule:
The goal is 3 days a week x 10 minutes of Pilates exercises.
Whether it's
Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday....or
Monday, Wednesday, Friday...
Feel free to add more time or change the days, but stay consistent.
The reason and the need for change must come from within you. If you want to achieve lasting results, you must believe that movement is beneficial for you and that it will make you feel better physically and mentally. Wanting more will propel you into a new routine, which will eventually become your new habit.
Practicing Pilates at home should be everyone's routine, regardless of access to a classical Pilates studio.
Joseph Pilates on his method of Contrology
“Make up your mind that you will perform Contrology exercises ten minutes without fail. Amazingly enough, once you travel on this Contrology “Road to Health” you will subconsciously lengthen your trip on it from ten to twenty or more minutes before you even realize it. Why? The answer is simple: The exercises have stirred your sluggish circulation into action and to performing its duty more effectively in the matter of discharging through the bloodstream the accumulation of fatigue - product created by muscular and mental activities. Your brain clears and your will power functions.”
"Return To Life Through Contrology"
My Two Cents
The key is to create the right environment so that the new habit of exercising for 10 minutes is easy to practice.
To successfully add Pilates to your day, make it easy
• Designate a floor space in your home that's easily acceible
• Keep your exercise mat spread out there or rolled up nearby
• Keep in mind it is not the mat used for yoga but a mat made from a thicker material
• If space is limited, create an easily "assembled" space by having easily-movable furniture.
In the words of James Clear, author of "Atomic Habits":
"The actions that matter most should also be
the actions that are easiest to do"
